Melissa Franks (2-17-20) service 2-21-20

Melissa B. Franks, of Savannah, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 17, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 4 days.
She was born in Hardin County on May 13, 1933, the daughter of the late James Fountain and Georgia Beatrice Crotts Franks.
Melissa was a member of Baylor University Alumni Association and a former member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis. She taught elementary education in California, Nashville, Tennessee, Arizona, and New Mexico.
Melissa is survived by her nieces, Annie Sue Weems of Nashville, Betty Jones of Savannah, Beatrice Hammond of Mississippi, Judith Cooper of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina; and Becky Spitz of Annapolis, Maryland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Franks; and her sisters, Inez Cooper, Annie Belle Henry, Harriett Ramage, Ruie Franks and Lettie Jean Weatherly.
Services were held on Friday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Allen Guyer officiating. Burial followed in Pyburn Cemetery at Savannah.
