Nancy Lee Thomas (12-9-19) service 12-13-19

On Monday, Dec. 9, Nancy Curtis Thomas, of Cordova, Tennessee, entered into rest at the age of 60 in Memphis.
Nancy was born on Nov. 3, 1959, in Hackensack, New Jersey, to Claude and Sammie Emmons Curtis.
After finishing top of her class at Methodist Hospital School of Nursing she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Nursing and pursued her Masters degree work at the University of Memphis. Nancy was wholehearted in her practice as a critical care nurse for 27 years. She was a devoted wife to Dr. Don Thomas for 22 years and a loving mother to her two children. Nancy was an advocate for women’s rights, the family historian and a cancer research philanthropist.
She was always strong in her faith and found great joy in being a preacher’s wife. When at home she could be found enjoying her opera, baking, reading and doing puzzles. Nancy had a fondness for travel, especially long car trips to see her family. As a loving Nana, she was present for every birthday and Christmas with her grandchildren. As a trained storm spotter, she never missed a chance to visit the coast with her sisters during storm season.
She was preceded in death by her father, Claude, and mother, Sammie.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Don Thomas, her two children, Teresa (Garry) Condrey, and John (Maritza) Sowell, her four grandchildren, Nicole, Garry, Isla and Nina, her three sisters, Claudia (John) Sadrack, Mary (Charles) Douglass and Linda (Kenneth) Park, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Germantown Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2385 Riverdale Rd., Germantown, Tenn., on Friday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
