Donald Cannon (12-23-19) service 12-29-19

Donald Bishop Cannon, 77, of Savannah, died on Monday, Dec. 23, in Savannah.

He was born in Poinsett County, Arkansas the son of the late Ora Jean Brewer Cannon and Carter Gibson Cannon. He was united in marriage to Laura Frances Franks, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Cannon started working for the Savannah Police Department in 1967, where he was later the Savannah Chief of Police, retiring in 2000.

He is survived by his two daughters, Robin Adams of Savannah and Judy Wetherbee of Nashville; and one granddaughter.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, James “Jimmy” Cannon.

Memorial donations may be made to the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center, 935 Wayne Road, Savannah, Tenn. 38372.

Services were held on Sunday, Dec. 29, at  Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Eric Smith officiating. Burial followed in Porter Cemetery at Savannah.
