Charles “Doc” Connor (12-7-19) service 12-12-19

Charles “Doc” Connor, of Savannah, departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 7,  at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 5 days.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on Aug. 2, 1925, the son of the late Oliver Perry and Mildred Elizabeth Wood Connor. On Oct. 15, 1947, he was united in marriage to Gertrude Carla Spurlock, who preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 2006.
While living in Cincinnati, Ohio, Charles helped to co-found Northbrook Civic Association and the Northbrook Athletic Club. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, taking walks, home projects, woodworking, and following his grandsons’ baseball careers. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church of Adamsville.
He is survived by his son, Michael Connor; daughters, Deborah Mains and Patricia Gagyi and her husband Steve; grandchildren, Brian, Carrie, Traci, Chris and Derek; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Goldie Westrich.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Charles was preceded in death his brother, Ralph Connor; sisters, Mary Peters, Fran Ernst and Betty Priestle; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Connor.
Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Adamsville with Chad Ball officiating.
