Mary Nell Elliott Christopher, 99, died on Thursday, Nov. 7.
She was born in McNairy County, the daughter of the late William Robert and Sindi Mae Larue Elliott. She was united in marriage to Alva Joe Christopher who preceded her in death.
In her lifetime, Mrs. Christopher worked at Harwood Manufacturing, H.I.S. Manufacturing, as a cook at Adamsville School, as a babysitter, and finally for Ripley Industries.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Boroughs of Bath Springs, Tennessee and Penny Britt of Lexington; sons, Joe Christopher of Savannah, Terry Christopher of Adamsville and Harlon “Tuffy” Christopher of Adamsville; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Max Christopher; sisters, Donvie Christopher, Lexie Nold, Hettie Gray and Billie Moore; brothers, George Elliott, Charles T. Elliott and James T. Elliott; and great-granddaughter.
Services were held on Monday, Nov. 11, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Randy Latch officiating. Burial followed in Union Grove Cemetery at McNairy County.
