Garmelia Perkins (10-25-19) service 10-27-19

Garmelia Kelly Perkins, of Adamsville, departed this life on Friday, Oct. 25, at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 7 days.
She was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on Sept. 18, 1924, the daughter of John Sam and Ida Pearl Minton Kelly. On June 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Peerey William Perkins, who preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1996.
Garmelia had lived in Adamsville most of her life and had worked at Garan Manufacturing for more than 30 years, Harwood Manufacturing for five years, and Adamsville Nursing Home for five years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Adamsville.
Garmelia was always taking food to the sick, over the years she had made a lot of chicken and dumplings for people to enjoy. She enjoyed shopping, working at her church, and was very outgoing and active up until the past few months. During her stay at Adamsville Nursing Home she had a very special dog, Charlie Brown.
Garmelia is survived by her children, Patricia Walker and her husband Larry of Savannah, Frances Cowan of Arlington, Tennessee, and Steve Perkins and his wife Jo of Savannah; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Chad, Mia and Monica; and great-grandchildren, Jacy, Hannah and Emma.
In addition to her parents and husband, Garmelia was preceded in death by her brothers, R.C. Kelly and Hershel Kelly; and a sister, Aurelia Dickey.
Services were held on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Frances Cowan and Amanda Westmoreland officiating. Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery.
