Saturday’s storm disrupts Adamsville Utility Department water service

UPDATE– Oct. 27, 12:25 p.m.– The Adamsville Utility Department reports power has been restored to the city water wells. A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for all AUD water customers.

INITIAL STORY– Adamsville Utility Department water customers are being asked to use as little water as possible following Saturday’s storm which has knocked out electrical service to large parts of Hardin County.

The water system depends on electricity for its pumps and without power the water storage tanks can’t be filled. Adamsville City Administrator said efforts are being made to restore power to the city water plant as soon as possible, but it’s unknown when that might be accomplished. Once service is restored, it’s possible customers may have to boil their water for a period of time to ensure it’s safe to drink.

Simon is also urging people to refrain from sight-seeing and touring wind-damaged areas because the extra traffic is straining the resources of local emergency personnel trying to work.

He added that the nursing home in Adamsville does currently have electricity.
