Ray Wood (10-21-19) service 10-21-19

Ray Wood, 85, of Counce, died Monday, Oct. 21, in Corinth, Mississippi.
He was born in Counce, the son of the late William Mancel Wood and Louise W. Wood.  He was united in marriage to Barbara Dunn, who survives.
Mr. Wood served in the U. S. Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958.  During his service time, he was stationed in Germany.  He grew up in the sawmill business working with his father and also worked at other jobs throughout the earlier years of his lifetime.  He retired from Tennessee River Pulp and Paper Company in Counce.
In addition to his wife Barbara Wood, he is survived by daughters, Donna Kennedy and Wendi Wood, both of Selmer; five grandchildren;  three great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Wood of Counce; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Carroll;  five brothers, W. M. “Junior” Wood, David Wood,  Rodger Wood, Donny Wood, Leroy Wood.
A visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 21, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer.  Burial was in Center Hill Cemetery near Counce.
