Neda Alexander Chester Hargis, of Savannah, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the age of 73, at St. Thomas Hospital in Murfreesboro.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Alexander Love; husband Hayes Douglas Hargis; former husband James Edward Chester; and other dear members of her extended family.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura Camille Chester of Murfreesboro, Stephanie Adelle Chester Bogue (Jason) of Franklin, Tennessee; father, Douglas Alexander of Savannah; brother, Dr. M.D. “Buzz” Alexander of Franklin, Tennessee; stepsons, Dennis Hargis (Sarah) of Tucson, Arizona, Douglas Hargis (Jennifer) of Dallas, Texas, Brent Hargis (Syndee) of Vicksburg, Mississippi, their children; and many beloved nephews, nieces and family members.
She was a 1963 graduate of Central High School and attended West TN Business College. She had a sales career at Cendant in Brentwood, Tennessee for many years and was retired. She attended Northside Baptist Church and was always helping others. She enjoyed traveling, reading, antiques, and spending time with her friends and family. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at 11 a.m., on Thursday Sept. 26, with service at 1 p.m., Shackelford Funeral Directors, 450 Church Street, Savannah. Burial will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.
