Carolyn Norton Phillips, age 95, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Savannah.
She was born in Gibson County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Max Lane. Her first husband, Dick Norton, died in 1982. They reared their three children in Jackson, Tennessee.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Lewis Phillips; her son, Dick Norton Jr.; and her sister, Margaret Lawhon.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Norton of Richmond, Virginia; son, Max Lane Norton (Debbie) of Pickwick Dam; her daughter in law, Charlotte Calvert; six grandchildren, Paul Norton Pearce (Elizabeth), Courtney Norton Browder (Justin), Candice Norton Stang (Jason), Max Lane Norton II, Colton Norton and Harrison Norton; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Anne and Catherine Pearce, Taylor, Gabby and Charlotte Ann Stang, and Cole Browder; two nieces and one nephew, Mrs. Ian Nimmo, Mrs. Martin Shott and Reet Thomas Lawhon.
The family received friends and loved ones at a visitation on Monday, Sept. 9, from 12 p.m. to1 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral procession left the North Chapel after the visitation and proceeded to Highland Memorial Gardens mausoleum for a cryptside committal service.
Active pallbearers to serve were Paul Weaver, Charlie Weaver, Jay Wolfe, Greg Bain, Weston Bain, Brad Bain, Danny Wilson and Boyce Bain.
Honorary pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Carpenter.
