Health Department hosting educational ‘Extraordinary Baby Shower’

The Hardin County Health Department and community partners will host their 10th annual Extraordinary Baby Shower on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at East End United Methodist Church in Savannah.

Preparing for the upcoming Extraordinary Baby Shower are, from left, Hardin County Health Department Nutrition Educator Jean Ann Sullivan; Social Worker Debbie Wilson and Nurse Supervisor Dale Reynolds.

The event celebrates National Breastfeeding Month and encourages expecting moms. The goal is to bring local social service providers and community partners together in one location so prenatal women can have access to information needed to ensure the best pregnancy outcomes.
Several local vendors will have display tables. New moms and moms-to-be will have the opportunity to walk around and visit each display and receive valuable information, flyers and gifts.
Moms-to-be also have the opportunity to receive a door prize, be treated to healthy snacks, plus hear from guest speakers.
Labor and Delivery Nurse Michelle Caissie of Hardin Medical Center will discuss OB/GYN and breastfeeding services, and Dr. Lyndsay Smith of Lifespan Health will discuss pediatric care services.
