J.S. Boyd (8-8-19) service 8-12-19

J.S. Boyd, of Adamsville, was born on Jan. 12, 1938, in Wayne County, the son of the late Ervin Franklin and Elma Elizabeth Dedrick Boyd. On May 30, 1968, he was united in marriage to Bobbie Jean House, who survives.
Mr. Boyd worked as a foreman for Brown Shoe Company in Selmer for 38 years and for Spectrum in Selmer for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Adamsville and a member of Adamsville Free and Accepted Masons. J.S. enjoyed gardening, watching University of Tennessee Volunteers football games, fishing, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family and granddaughter.
J.S. Boyd departed this life on Thursday, Aug. 8, in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 27 days.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean House Boyd of Adamsville; son, Joel Steven Boyd of Adamsville; sister, Joan Boyd Northcutt and her husband David of Corinth, Mississippi; granddaughter, Bailey Jewel Boyd; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ervin Boyd Jr., Roy O’Neal Boyd, Curtis Boyd and Billy Joe Boyd.
Services were held on Monday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Adamsville with W.D. McCollum and Phil Mitchell officiating. Burial followed in Mars Hill Cemetery at Adamsville.
