Savannah Police Department hosting National Night Out on Aug. 6

The Savannah Police Department is hosting a free community event at Tennessee Street Park to mark National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Across the U.S., neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
Savannah’s National Night Out initiative features a meet and greet with city police officers, free hot dogs and drinks, and car seat technicians helping to properly install child safety seats in vehicles.
Kids can get up close and personal with a police car and a fire truck, and security vendors will be on hand to discuss safety and security.
National Night Out in Savannah takes place from 5:30 -7:30 p.m.
