Ronald Boyd (7-20-19) service 7-24-19

Ronald Gene Boyd, of Adamsville, departed this life on Saturday, July 20, in Adamsville, at the age of 80 years, 7 months, 15 days.
He was born Dec. 5, 1938, in Coulterville, Illinois, the son of the late James Harold and Dorothy Carol Campbell Boyd.
Mr. Boyd was a member of Adamsville First Baptist Church. He graduated from Coulterville High School in 1956 and received his Masters in agricultural economics in 1966 from Southern Illinois University.  He served in the U.S. Air Force  from 1960 through 1966 attaining the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Boyd worked for the Hardin County Bank Insurance Agency for 10 years and served as manager for five years. He was a former mayor of Sardis and a Star Route mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He also served as a volunteer with the Henderson County Fire Department. He was a Mason at the Lexington Lodge and a Shriner with the Little Rock, Arkansas chapter.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Boyd of Adamsville,  whom he married on Jan. 8, 2000; his children, Amy Boyd, Mary Robertson and husband Randy, Sherry Watson, Tina Austin and husband William, Kent Mathis and wife Becky; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Boyd and wife Sally along with a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Boyd, on Sept. 16, 1998.  They were united in marriage on March 11, 1960.
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, July 24, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Adamsville with Phil Mitchell and Chad Ball officiating. Private family interment service followed at Spring Hill Cemetery in Sardis.
