Body of Pickwick Dam boating accident victim recovered

Authorities recovered the body of a man in the Tennessee River on Thursday who died in a boating accident the prior morning.

Searchers on the Tennessee River Wednesday afternoon.

Pickwick-Counce Fire Chief Richard Childers identified the victim as Jeffery Dilworth, 56, of Rienzi, Mississippi.
He said the preliminary investigation indicates that Dilworth was alone in a 16-foot jon boat when it developed engine trouble. The boat was swamped and sank when it got too close to the spillway at Pickwick Dam.
The accident happened shortly before 11:23 a.m. Wednesday, and Dilworth’s body was found about three-fourths of a mile downstream by searchers at about 10 a.m. today.
