Billy Holmes (6-24-19) service 6-27-19

Billy Gene Holmes, 75, of Adamsville, died on Monday, June 24, in Memphis.
He was born in the Purdy community of McNairy County, the son of the late Roy Lee Holmes and Mary Lee Roberts Holmes.
Mr. Holmes worked at Brown Shoe Company and different auto body repair shops. He worked with Brodie Stackens, Dub Nowlin, Rod Provience and his brother, RL Holmes. He bought a shop from RL in 1977 and was self-employed until April 2014. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Bobby Holmes of Jackson, Tennessee, Jamie Holmes and Brett Holmes, both of Adamsville; a daughter, Heather Garrett of McKenzie, Tennessee; two great nephews who he loved like his sons, both of Adamsville; a brother, R.L. Holmes of Adamsville; and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Martha Holmes, Sonya Holmes, Dorothy Hendrix and Mary Frances Garner.
Services were held on Thursday, June 27, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Dustin Chambers and Tommy Ross officiating. Burial followed in Adamsville Cemetery.
