Wilbur Kenney Sr. (6-12-19) service 6-15-19

Wilbur Preston Kenney Sr., of Savannah, departed this life on Wednesday, June 12, at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 1 day.
He was born in Hemphill, West Virginia, on Aug. 11, 1931, the son of the late Charles Harvey and Elizabeth Shelton Kenney. On Feb. 9, 1954, he was united in marriage to Onie Jean Kelley, who preceded him in death on April 10, 2000.
Mr. Kenney enlisted in the United States Army, where he served the country he loved honorably during the Korean War. After his enlistment, he held several jobs including working for the City of Savannah as a truck driver and as the assistant manager at the drive-in and old Savannah Theater. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Mr. Kenney enjoyed collecting pocket knives, listening to country music, watching Fox News, back porch sitting on his swing, and reading his Bible daily. He especially loved spending time with his family, whether it be while watching wrestling with his wife and his son Jeff, or holding cookouts, where they always played horseshoes.
Mr. Kenney is survived by his children, Joan Tilson and her husband Roger of Counce, Wilbur Kenney Jr. and his wife Lisa of Savannah, Lonnie Kenney and his wife Barbara of Charleston, South Carolina, Tammy Goheen and her husband Chris of Adamsville and Jeff Kenney and his wife Robin of Savannah; grandchildren, Shane Tilson, Christy Davis, Crystal Kenney, Bethany Barnett, Whitney Walls, Angel Burkhead, Destiny Kenney, Diana Kenney, Devon Kenney, Daniel Kenney, Amanda Beckwith, Hunter Goheen, Jake Kenney and Taylor Kenney; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Kenney was preceded in death by his sisters, Alma Smith, Freda Parks, Virginia Whitt and Norma J. Dowell; and brothers, John W. Kenney, Harold B. Kenney and Charles U. Kenney.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, June 15, at Memory Gardens in Savannah with Jim Haggard officiating.
