John Cromwell (5-29-19) service 6-3-19

John Dee Cromwell, 85, of Savannah, died on Wednesday, May 29.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Jack and Annie Horton Cromwell. He was united in marriage to Mary Joyce Hamilton-Blount, who survives.
Mr. Cromwell served his country in the United States Army for 25 years until his retirement on Sept. 1, 1972. Following his service, he worked for the United States Postal Service in Memphis for 25 years. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Collierville, Tennessee.
In addition to his wife, Mary Cromwell, he is survived by his sister, Jane Cross of Murray, Kentucky; stepsons, Donald Blount and Daryl Blount, both of Savannah; stepdaughters, Gina Doran of Savannah, and Jana Wetzel of Madison, Alabama; one niece; one nephew; one great-niece; two great-nephews; 10 step grandchildren; and 20 step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy Carl Cromwell, Ellis Cromwell and Warren G. Cromwell; sister, Jo E. Stanfield; and one step-great-grandchild.
Services were held on Monday, June 3, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Helen Hamilton officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
