Charles “Chuck” DeCourley (5-24-19) service 6-4-19

Charles “Chuck” Danny DeCourley, 79, of Hallsville, Missouri, died on Friday, May 24, in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born in Memphis, and grew up in south central Tennessee.
Mr. DeCourley enlisted in the Navy in 1959. He was assigned to Washington DC, where he met and married Susan Myers.
In the Navy, he served as a cryptologic technician. He served in Philippines and Vietnam. In 1969, he was stationed in Hakada, Japan. In 1970, he and the family moved to San Angelo, Texas, where he taught communications at Goodfellow Air Force Base. In 1976, they moved to Okinawa, where he served until retirement. During his Navy service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, a Viet-Nam Service Medal, a Viet-Nam Campaign Ribbon with Device and a Navy Unit Commendation.
In 1979, he retired from the Navy, and moved to Columbia, Missouri. He worked for University Ag Extension, followed by Small Farm Today magazine. For 12 years, he was the organizer of the National Small Farm Trade Show & Conference.
In addition to his wife, Susan DeCourley, he is survived by one brother, Joe; his daughter, Rebecca; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Beth Marie; one brother, Ernest; and his parents.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 4, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
