Jackson’s US 45 bypass to close for construction

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said contract crews will have a full closure of the U.S. 45 bypass in Jackson for crews to install a new sign truss across all north and southbound lanes of the bypass, as well as paving activities.
The closure is as follows:
• Friday, April 26, 8 p.m. through Saturday, April 27, 7 p.m.
The U.S. 45 bypass north and southbound lanes at the I-40 interchange will be closed to through traffic. The associated interstate ramps will have intermittent closures throughout.
• Saturday, April 27, 5-10 a.m.
One lane will be closed I-40 east and westbound between mile markers 79-81 for construction activities.
At the conclusion of this weekend’s work on the U.S. 45 bypass, there will be:
• Three through lanes north and southbound on the U.S. 45 bypass
• New signals operating with turn lanes on the U.S. 45 bypass
• New on and off interstate ramps
• Re-opened east and westbound 80-A and 80-B ramps
TDOT said all work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead.
