David D. Carsten, 76, of Counce, died on Tuesday, March 26, in Corinth, Mississippi.
He was born in Waynedale, Indiana, the son of the late Phillip John and Thelma Evelyn Lee Carsten. He was united in marriage to Martha “Marti” Ruiz, who survives.
While living in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mr. Carsten worked for Zollner Corporation and was the owner and operator of Parkwest Aquarium. After moving to Tennessee, he owned and operated several businesses, Ace Hardware in Selmer, CDL Incorporated in Selmer and Mr. C’s Pizza at Pickwick Dam. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pickwick.
In addition to his wife, Marti Carsten of Counce, he is survived by his children, Dan Carsten of Mooresville, North Carolina, Nancy Carsten Glass of Leo, Indiana and Mike Carsten of Mason, Ohio; stepchildren, Matt Clevenger of Selmer and Shannon Drake of Counce; brother, Larry Carsten of Greenback, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Carsten; and his grandparents, John Carsten, Carrie Carsten, Manford Lee and Cora Lee.
Services were held on Saturday, March 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Savannah with Father Dexter Noblefranca and Father Enrique Granados officiating. Cremation to follow service.
