Michael Ray “Mack” Spradlin, 72, of Savannah, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

He was born in Woodland, Alabama, the son of the late Robert Young Spradlin and Gussie Olga Adams Spradlin. He was united in marriage to Laura Haynes, who survives.

Mr. Spradlin was a member of Crump Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1970. During his enlistment, he served three tours in Vietnam. He retired from American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) where he was an engineer, he had been with the company for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Haynes Spradlin of Savannah; daughters, Tina Tyler of Savannah, Brandi Sharit of Adamsville, Jennifer Copeland  of Savannah and Christa Pilkinton of Savannah; five grandchildren; brothers, Harvey Spradlin of Knoxville, Ronnie Spradlin of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Doyce Spradlin of Woodland, Alabama, Donnie Spradlin of Woodland, Alabama, Dan Mallette of Murfreesboro, Don Mallette of Jackson, Tennessee, and Karl Mallette of Savannah; sisters, Ramona Wilkerson of Savannah and Marie Hurst of Selmer; stepsisters, Scarlett Heard of Woodland, Alabama and Berna McNeal of Franklin, Georgia; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Young Spradlin Jr., John Spradlin and Danny Spradlin; sisters, Margie Spradlin and Mildred Spradlin; stepbrother, Wayne Hendrix; and Jack C. and Betty S. Mallette, the parents who raised him.

Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Dan Mallette and Wes Wilkerson officiating. Burial followed in Crump Baptist Church Cemetery.
