Freeman Franks (1-18-19) service 1-23-19

Freeman Franks, 79, of Savannah, died on Friday, Jan. 18, in Jackson, Tennessee.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late George Franks and Elsie Brown Hill. He was united in marriage to Mable Smith, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Franks worked for Roach Sawmill.  He was a member of St. Jude Coon Hunting Club.
He is survived by his children, Becky Smith, Jayne Shelby, Lee Qualls, Pokey Franks, Tracy Franks and Jon Franks, all of Savannah; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters,  Doris Hunt, Polly Gooch, Ruby Gammill, Betty Davison, Martha McCasland and Joanne Hunt, all of Savannah; and a brother, Jessie Franks of Savannah.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Todd; one son, Michael Franks; one grandson, Steve Qualls Jr.; one great-grandson, Jayden Shelby; one sister, Esther Holt; and three brothers, Lester Holt, Coy Franks and Robert Hill.
Services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at  Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Melinda Lee officiating. Burial followed in Old Union Cemetery at Adamsville.
