Vernon “Zonie” Cornelius (12-2-18) service 12-7-18

Vernon Nell “Zonie” Cornelius, 78, of Corinth, Mississippi, died on Sunday, Dec. 2.

He was born in Marshall County, Alabama, to Ernest and Nellie Bashears Cornelius.

Mr. Cornelius worked on tow boats.

He is survived by a son,  Vernon Earnest Leon “Buster” Cornelius of Lexington, Kentucky; daughters, Wendy Cornelius and Nell Mattingly, both of Savannah; a sister, Hattie Davis of Counce; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers,  Harold Cornelius, Ronnie Cornelius, David Cornelius and James Cornelius;  and sisters, Bobbie York and Tina Murphy.

A celebration of his life is scheduled for 1 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 7, at South Shiloh Full Gospel Church in Shiloh.  James Newcomb and Larry Adair will officiate. The family will begin receiving guest at 11 a.m. on Friday.
