J.W. Boyd “Perk” Morris, 90, of Savannah, died on Monday, Oct. 29, in Savannah.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Walter and Effie Morris. He was united in marriage to Arvella Benson, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Morris served his country in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952.  He worked as a night watchman for El Rancho Furniture Manufacturing. He was self-employed in the sawmill industry and also worked for others.

He is survived by his children, James Boyd Morris of Savannah, Teresa Rogers of Savannah, Jonas Morris of Savannah, Kenneth Morris of Elsberry, Missouri, Lesa Roach of Savannah and Dewayne Morris of Savannah; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Virginia Smith of Savannah and Willidean King of Lexington, Tennessee.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, Earl, Ancil, Floyd, Roy and Coy Morris; sister, Oakley Wesson; two infant sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Friday, Nov. 2, at Walnut Grove Church of Christ in Savannah with Jimmy McGee and Howard Rogers officiating. Burial followed in Hollands Creek Cemetery at Savannah.
