Barbara Highland Ford (11-4-18) service 11-6-18

Barbara Ellise Highland, of Savannah, was born in Arkansas on July 30, 1932, the daughter of Rueben Lee and Eula Mae Jones Highland. Except for eight years spent in that state, she lived the rest of her life in Hardin County. On Feb. 28, 1948, she married George Mondel Ford who preceded her in death just slightly over three years ago on Oct. 5, 2015.
Barbara was a homemaker in every sense of the word.  She was a wonderful cook and avid gardener who loved her flowers—but not nearly as much as she loved her kids and her grandkids . . . and listening to her family play music on the porch.  When she wasn’t caring for them, one of her greatest pleasures came from simply shopping from her home or attending church at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ where she was a member.
Barbara Ford left this life on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 5 days.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children Elvin Ford and his wife Joan, Ricky Ford, Jimmy Ford, George Ford, Kay White and Randy Ford, all of Savannah, as well as her grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Crystal, Scottie, Rocky, Billy, Falin, Timothy, Lee Ann, Shana and Christen; and her great-grandchildren, Ricki, C.J., Halle, Cooper, Marley, Phoenix, Jensen, Aiden, Jacob, Houston, Natalie and Parker.
Other than her husband and her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sons, William Houston Ford and Timothy Dewayne Ford; as well as a great-grandson, Damien Ford.
Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m., at Walnut Grove Church of Christ in Savannah with David Highland and David Dowdy officiating. Burial followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Savannah.
