Sixteen guns stolen in 30-second burglary

Savannah police are investigating a swift smash and grab burglary at a gun store in which the perpetrators made off with 16 firearms with a total value of more than $5,000 Saturday.
Security video at Talley’s Lock & Load, 1020 Wayne Road, shows three subjects with their faces covered entering the store by breaking the glass front door.

Plywood covers the broken glass door at Talley’s Lock & Load.

The first subject, wearing a ball cap pulled low, uses what appears to be a hammer to smash display cases. The other two, wearing hoodies, grab guns from the broken cases and stuff them into back packs worn backward.
All three are gone in less than half a minute.
According to the preliminary investigative report, the crime took place at around 1:13 a.m. and officers arrived in response to a burglar alarm. All but one of the display cases was found broken.

Savannah Police Chief Michael Pitts said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms industry, are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction for those responsible for the theft of the firearms.
