Event seeks to link seniors with local resources, services

Senior citizens are invited to an event planned just for them, with a goal of linking people of the senior age group with services and resources available in the community.
Hardin County Health Council and community partners are hosting their fifth annual Senior Expo on Tuesday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah.

Pulling together last minute details, members of the Senior Expo Committee are from left, standing, Thom Harvill, Jennifer Siner, Virginia Haynes, Tonya McLin, Bridget Ray, Theresa Matlock, and seated, Allison McChristial and Ann Smith.

There will be 35 local vendors with educational information at their display tables.
Senior citizens have the opportunity to walk around and visit each display and receive information and gifts. Attendees will get to fellowship, hear music from the Wayne Jerrolds Bluegrass Band, and have a chance to enter to win door prizes. Box lunches will be provided for the first 150 senior citizen attendees.
Hardin County Health Council announced Woodman Life Insurance, Lifespan Health and the Darryl Worley Foundation are donating the box lunches catered from The Outpost. Kroger is donating water and Coca Cola of Corinth is donating sodas.
“On behalf of our committee and organizers we would also like to recognize, in memoriam, Jo Jones, family nurse practitioner, for all her tireless work and support of this event,” said Jennifer Siner, public health educator at the Hardin County Health Department.
