Early voting in Hardin County up 23 percent

Early voting in Hardin County is up significantly, fueled by contested local elections and interest in the gubernatorial primaries, according to the local election commission.
The commission reports Thursday that the number of citizens who voted in the first 10 days of early voting in 2014 versus 2018 in Hardin County is up 23 percent.
During the comparable election in 2014 there were 1,900 ballots cast during the first 10 days. This year 2,340 have voted during the first 10 days,
Early voting hours are: Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and on Saturday, the last day to vote early, from 9 a.m. to noon. Early voting is held at the Hardin County Election Commission office in the county courthouse on Main Street in Savannah.
Election Day is Thursday, Aug. 2. Polls county-wide will be open from 8 a.m, to 7 p.m.
