Billy “Butch” Gant (7-12-18) service 7-15-18

Billy Wayne “Butch” Gant, one of the kindest, most loving, and giving men, went to be, not only with his heavenly Father, but also with his earthly father on Thursday, July 12, at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 12 days. This earth lost a great man, but heaven gained an angel.
He was born in Savannah on Oct. 30, 1952, the son of Mary Ella Bain Gant and the late James L. “Bill” Gant.
Mr. Gant attended Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He lived in Savannah his entire life and graduated from Hardin County High School and Jackson State Community College. Mr. Gant later worked for the State of Tennessee until retiring. He loved his church, his family, and fishing. Being a B-Paw and Papa to his eight grandchildren, and keeping his wife Kathy happy by always smiling and nodding, were a few of his favorite things. Mr. Gant loved everyone.
In addition to his wife of nine years, Kathy, and his mother, Mr. Gant is survived by his daughter, Meleah Gant of Pickwick; son, Jake Gant and wife Anna of Jackson, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Lei Anne Parish and husband Bobby of St. Louis, Missouri and Stacey Bullock and husband Todd of Southaven, Mississippi; stepson, Brian Higgins and wife Leigh of Savannah; sisters, Judy Gant and Linda Hill and husband John, all of Savannah, and Brenda Pigue of Jackson, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren, Jett and Audra Gant, William and Evelyn Parish, Lily and Harper Higgins, and Laynee and Parker Bullock.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bluford and Lilly Bain, Walter Gant and Lydia Delaney.
Services were held on Sunday, July 15, at 1:30 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Mitch Boulton, Johnny Hill, Steven Hill and Eddie Cupples officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Hermon Cemetery at Savannah.
