Man fatally shot near Crump

A man was fatally shot Tuesday night at Perkins Bluff on the Tennessee River just outside the city of Crump, early information gathered by The Courier indicates.
Multiple sources say one man apparently shot another man in the neck in an altercation near the riverbank around 10:45 p.m. A woman managed to bring the shooting victim to a nearby Mexican restaurant in Crump, at which point authorities were notified and an ambulance dispatched.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday morning.
Crump Police Chief Tim Kelly said the sheriff’s department has not shared any information about the incident with him.
“We don’t know if the (shooter) is still around here or not,” he said.
When a serious crime, especially a shooting, has been committed in Hardin County and a suspect is still on the loose, law enforcement authorities should be notified promptly, so our citizens are protected.
An individual was shot Tuesday night near Crump. The suspect was finally apprehended mid-afternoon on Wednesday. However, local law enforcement agencies, including the cities of Crump and Savannah, were not provided a description of the suspect until the following day.
I know from first-hand experience that the current administration of our sheriff’s department does not effectively communicate with other area law enforcement agencies. The citizens of this community deserve and should expect more from their Sheriff and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department.
I agree with T.J we do need to be informed if someone has shot someone in front of other people and is still on the loose its our right to be prepared and protected i dont think he was making anyone look bad he was telling the honest truth i mean think about how bad savannah has become more murders in last few years and not damn thing is being done about it
Same in McNairy Co. My wife got shot last year. They have the bullet, gun, even the guy who turned in the gun. But till this day only thing we was told was we don’t arrest people on our payroll meaning he was a informint them.
I know for a fact that the sheriff and his men have been working without sleep .have not been in bed since Tuesday am . if you tell every thing you know want the word get out and give the person time to get away .Mr. Barker why try to make the Sheriff look bad you don’t have to try and beat him again . you tried to put him threw the mud 2 times and still didn’t work and he never done that to you it cost you votes and it will this time . oh by the way I am not kin to the sheriff and don’t even know any that is running not even you
I have read these 4 comments and like all things information can be added and also left out. Crimes increase in some areas as I think it might be due to drugs. Read of a shooting in North West Tn. men shot in car. No one knows any thing till investigated or a witness comes forward. Facts are facts. BS is BS. My thought. If you read what was stated then there was a witness and that will help Sheriff. Apparently someone has a beef with the law enforcement.
If you have a shooter on the loose, other law enforcement agencies need to be notified of that immediately..

I Know the man that did this and it was self defense. See what they are not telling the public is the man that got shot was trying to harass the other man’s wife and they had kids with them! The man that was shot started the altercation so the couple was trying to leave and the man stab the other and was trying to keep stabbing him while he was trying to get in his vehicle, so he fired some shots to get the man to stop and scare him off so they could leave and one hit him! It was self defense all the way but now this man is fighting the Hardin county justice system and is sitting in jail while they fuck off and try to keep him behind bars for the rest of his life! I mean I understand 2 wrongs don’t make a right but I can almost guarantee that if anyone else was in that situation they would have done the same exact things! Especially a police officer, if they see a suspect with a gun or knife and that suspect starts coming after them with it then they are going to defend their lives and shoot them, right?! So yes if they are going to tell the story the tell the whole story not just half ass it! I know this has been over a year now, but damn the truth should have done been told by now!
Anytime there is a shooting and you have shooter still on the loose all law enforcement agencies need too be notified of it immediately. So I agree with T. J.
