The Tennessee Small Business Development Center, Jackson State Community College, honored a local client in recognition of National Small Business Week, April 29-May 6.
The Outstanding Manufacturing Small Business award was presented to Tri-Matic Spring Inc. and Southern Plating Inc. owners Jeff and Teresa Collier by SBDC, JSCC, Director Ron Acree and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director DeLaney Timberman.
The Center focuses on assisting small businesses, both startups and existing businesses that are looking to expand their operations.
“Helping start-ups, watching them grow and being able to provide assistance to expanding companies is what makes our job worthwhile,” said Joel Newman, senior small business specialist. “Even with the tough economy prior to this year, we have had some major successes that have created real economic impact.”
Tri-Matic was established in 1982 and Southern Plating in 1991. Tri-Matic manufactures high quality springs for automotive, lawn and garden, medical, home appliances and fire extinguisher industries in the United States and numerous countries throughout the world.
“Ron is a valuable source for small businesses. He helps us achieve goals to succeed in the small manufacturing business world,” said Jeff Collier.
Tri-Matic is in the Savannah Industrial Park and provides employment to residents of Savannah, Hardin and surrounding counties.
