'Raise the Flag' group preparing for Flag Day observances

The American flag is proudly displayed in Hardin County year round, but Saturday, June 16, is special – a celebration of Flag Day, which officially falls on June 14, but will be recognized locally on June 16.

“Raise the Flag,” a local group organized by Pickwick resident Faye Trim, has been helping to showcase American flags across Pickwick Dam and throughout Savannah and Counce for many years.

Communities throughout Hardin County are hosting individual flag raising events at Hardin County fire stations in the morning hours of June 16.

A centralized flag lowering ceremony will be held at Saltillo at 6 p.m., with assistance from members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
