Steve Pitts was born Oct. 29, 1944, in Milledgeville, the son of the late Herschel and Roxie Ellis Pitts.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Talbert on May 17, 1969.
Mr. Pitts began working for Vinson’s Drug Store at the age of 13, and continued until graduating from Adamsville High School in 1962. He accepted a position with Harwood Manufacturing, where he worked for approximately 20 years and was promoted to supervisor. After the plant closed Mr. Pitts worked for Baker Propane & Gas as a delivery driver.  In his spare time he enjoyed skeet and trap shooting, fishing, and participating in car shows with his black 1995 Chevy Silverado 4X4.  His favorite activity, however, was spending time with his two grandchildren, Campbell and Ford. Mr. Pitts was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Adamsville for 60 years.
Mr. Pitts departed this life on Thursday, April 12, at his home in Adamsville, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, 14 days.
He is survived by his wife of almost 49 years, Barbara Talbert Pitts of Adamsville; a daughter, Kelli Pitts Frank and husband Michael of Enville; two grandchildren, Campbell Bryant Grisham and Ford Tyler Frank; two sisters-in-law, Anna Lou Pitts and Giesla Pitts; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by seven sisters, Louise Pitts, Mable Pitts Mabry, Lucille Pitts Presley Hannah, Kate Pitts Phillips, Gerri Pitts Seaton, Betty Jean Pitts, and Rena Pitts Brooks; and two brothers, Bill Pitts and Bobby Pitts.
Services were held on Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Adamsville with Phil Mitchell, Tommy Ross and David Sauer officiating. Burial followed in Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville, Tennessee.
