Katherine Hightower (3-20-18) service 3-23-18

Katherine Patterson Hightower, of Oakland, Tennessee, formerly of Savannah, departed this life on Tuesday, March 20, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 20 days.
She was born in Swift, Tennessee on Jan. 31, 1935, the daughter of the late Buster and Alice Love Patterson. On Sept. 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to James Harold Hightower, who survives.
In her lifetime, Mrs. Hightower worked at Savannah Pants Factory in Savannah where she met the love of her life, and Hancock Fabrics in Memphis. Her talent as an excellent seamstress was shown in her love for sewing things for her family and her needlework. Mrs. Hightower enjoyed flower gardening, family get-togethers, watching the barges go by on the Tennessee River, feeding and watching the birds from her window, and going on trips to Gatlinburg with her husband James.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Hightower is survived by her daughters, Debra Beshires of Oakland, Tennessee and Patty Shearon of Middleton, Tennessee; son, James R. Hightower and wife Tammie of Oakland, Tennessee; brother, Jim Patterson and wife Linda of Savannah; grandchildren, Wayne Davidson, Matt Davidson and wife Lyndsey, Brandi Shearon, Dillon Hightower, Justin Hightower, Sara Beshires and A.J. Beshires; and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Davidson, Colton Davidson and Jase Davidson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hightower was preceded in death by her brothers, J.T. Patterson and Jack Patterson.
Services were held on Friday, March 23, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah. Burial followed in Mountain View Church of Christ Cemetery at Savannah.
