Hobert Scott (3-7-18)
Hobert “Scottie” “Meredith” M. Scott, 84, of Knox, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 7.
He was born in Hardin County, son of the late Eli and Ruth Scott. He was united in marriage to June “Martha” Scott, who preceded him in death. He later married Norma King, who survives.
Mr. Scott joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He earned numerous military awards to include gold and silver stars. He worked at Central Texas College as the kitchen supervisor until retiring in 1992.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, DAV, CTC Retirees Association, and the American Legion Post 131. He had recently attended St. Thomas Catholic Church in Knox, Indiana and previously attended at both St. Joseph’s in Killeen, Texas and St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Harker Heights, Texas.
In addition to his wife Norma Scott, he is survived by four children, Denise Colemire, Sally Scott and Hobert “Hobie” Scott, all from Killeen, Texas, and Veronica Scruggs from Chesapeake, Virginia; five grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.
In addition to his parents and his first wife Martha Scott, he was preceded in death by six brothers; one sister; and two grandchildren.
An informal celebration of life was held at American Legion Post 131 in Knox, Indiana, on March 9 and a formal, military-style memorial service at the American Legion Post 131 on March 10.
A memorial service will be held in the Fort Hood, Texas, area at a date yet to be determined.
