Edmund Armstrong (1-16-18)
Edmund Joe Armstrong, 83 of Panama City, Florida, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16.
He was born April 16, 1934, in Savannah, to Samuel Henry and Lucile Alexander Armstrong. Joe served in the United States Navy and United States Air Force for a total of 21 years. Joe and family moved to Panama City, Florida in 1969. He retired in 1976 as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement he earned his Bachelor’s degree and worked for Textron Marine Systems where he wrote the training manual for the LCAC Hovercraft. He enjoyed singing karaoke at AMVETS Post 2298 and Simms VA Nursing Home and was a life member of VFW Post 8205. He was also a proud 32nd Degree Mason whose membership included the Parker Masonic Lodge and the Shaddai Shrine Temple.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Peggye, his daughter, Debi, and a brother, Sam and wife, Barbara. He is survived by his sons, Edmund Joe Armstrong II and wife Pam, and Michael Armstrong, all of Panama City; brothers, Ronnie Armstrong and wife Una Mae, and Bob Armstrong and wife Kristi, all of Savannah; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and countless dear friends.
After his funeral, Masonic and Air Force Honors were at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
