Melvin S. Chval, 84, of Counce, died on Sunday, Dec. 31, at his residence.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Stanley and Agatha Chval. He was united in marriage to Donna Faye Glover, who survives.
Mr. Chval served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Pickwick Landing State Park, where he worked in maintenance.
In addition to his wife, Donna Glover Rickman Chval of Counce, he is survived by his children, Charles Anthony Rickman Sr. of Shiloh, Craig Chval of Missouri and Keith Chval of Illinois; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Gretts of Beavertown, Oregon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Rickman.
