Roy K. Franks Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 12 days.
He was born in Wayne County on July 15, 1951, the son of the late Roy Franks and Hazel Durbin Ward.
Roy, better known to his friends and family as “Junior” or “Slick,” was a veteran of the United States Army. He had been an animal control officer for the city and county.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Hamm and her husband Brian of Savannah; his sons, Roy Franks and his wife Danette and David Franks, all of Savannah; grandchildren, Alaina Hamm, Chloe Grace Hamm, Gabby Franks, Christopher Franks, Ava Franks, Daniel Franks, Austin Weaver Franks, Addison Franks and Lexi Deshazier; and the mother of his children, Mary Franks of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen and Gene Franks; and sisters, Ann Tindle and Dorothy Rodriquez.
Services were held on Sunday Dec. 31, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with A.J. Fowler officiating. Burial followed in Sunny Hill Cemetery at Savannah.
