Charlie Setsor (10-16-17) service 10-19-17
Charlie Joe Setsor, of Savannah, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Monday, Oct. 16, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 5 days.
He was born in Treadway, Tennessee on Nov. 11, 1932, the son of the late Robert Marion and Lucy Maggie Davis Setsor. On Feb. 2, 1967, Charlie was united in marriage to Ida Roberta Baugus, who preceded him in death on April 28, 2008.
Charlie served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, Illinois after 30 years; he moved to the Olive Hill-Savannah area and lived there until his death. Charlie was a member of United Auto Workers and was a volunteer firefighter in Olive Hill.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Sue Barnett of Pickwick Dam and Carla Woods and husband Jim of Kankakee, Illinois; sister, Roberta Mullins of Sneedville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Christopher Nelon, Tye Barnett and wife Amanda, Tony Woods and wife Shannon, Chad Woods, Rhonda Carter, Brian Carlile, Brittney Smith, and Adam Smith and wife Kim; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter, Geneva Carlile Smith; son, James Alfred Smith; and a brother, Ernest Jesse “E.J.” Setsor.
Services were held on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tye Barnett officiating. Burial followed in Prater’s Chapel Cemetery in Clifton.
