Vernice “Junior” Balentine (9-7-17) service 9-11-17
Vernice Junior Balentine, born Nov. 29, 1944, departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 7, at his home in Cypress Inn, Tennessee, with his wife, Judy, daughter, Rhonda and grand-dog, Bama.
Junior was the son of the late Vernice Glenn and Lucille Tidwell Balentine. He was united in marriage to Judy Fox, May 11, 1968, and was a self-employed logger and sawmill operator.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Larry Balentine and his brothers grandchildren, Dewayne and Sarah.
He is survived by wife of 49 years, Judy Balentine of Cypress Inn; daughter, Rhonda Phillips of Lawrenceburg; brother, Roger Dale Balentine, wife, Leigh Ann, and sister, Joyce McFall, husband, Leo, all of Florence, Alabama; sister-in-law, Christine Balentine of Summertown, Tennessee, nieces and nephews and grand-dog, Bama, who has been by his side for the three year battle.
He enjoyed being a logger and working with his mules.
Services were Monday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Dennis Hanvey officiating. Burial was in Balentine Cemetery, Lutts, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers were Daryl Balentine, Jeff McFall, Shane Petty, Billy Joe Dean, Matthew Chambers, Robert Haddock with Charles Edward Hunt as honorary pallbearer.
