Kenneth Woods (7-28-17) service 8-1-17

Kenneth “Tubby” Woods was born on Jan. 7, 1941, the son of the late Claude Albert and Ocie Wilma Jeter Woods. On Sept. 28, 1991, he was united in marriage to Janice Ruth Beckering Woods.
Kenneth departed this life on Friday, July 28, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 21 days.
Kenneth was an active member of First Baptist Church in Savannah where he enjoyed driving the church van and participating in Meals on Wheels. Before retiring, he worked as a towboat captain for MidSouth Towing. Kenneth loved going to the gym and working out, shopping, camping with his grandkids, traveling and boating. Hanging out with his friends in Clifton at the shop of his friend Timmy Lineberry and doing volunteer work were some of his favorite hobbies. Kenneth’s family remembers him as a very-people minded person who enjoyed visiting with and talking to others.
In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Amy Carlota and husband Oliver of Athens, Alabama; a son, Jon Lindsay and wife Trina of Savannah; sister, Rosa Woods Morris and husband Charles of Savannah; brothers, David Earl Woods of Clifton and William Howard Woods and wife Betty of Chattanooga; nephews, Jason Morris and wife Lauren and Chuck Morris and wife Amy; grandchildren, Alyssa, Benjamin, Clara and Colton; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Walter “Sonny” Woods; and his sister, June Evelyn Woods.
 Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 3 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Savannah with Michael Roach, Ken Speakman, James Beckering and Kern Porter officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
