Hillard “Jack” Snelling Jr. (7-29-17) service 8-2-17

Hillard Gillespie “Jack” Snelling Jr., 88, of Savannah, died on Saturday, July 29.
He was born in Lee County, Mississippi, the son of the late Hillard Gillespie and Clela Mae Palmer Snelling. He was united in marriage to Edna Ruth Burns, who survives.
Mr. Snelling served his country in the United States Army. He had worked at Sherman’s Ben Franklin Store, as shop manager for the Hardin County Highway Department for approximately 30 years. He was minister for Piney Grove Church of Christ for 38 years and had served as county commissioner for 20 years.
In addition to his wife Clela Snelling, he is survived by his daughters, Debra Snelling of Savannah and Cathy Turner of Humboldt, Tennessee; a son, Allen Snelling of Savannah; and three grandsons.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Memory Gardens in Savannah with David Baker officiating.
