Ronnie Young (6-26-17) service 6-28-17

Ronnie Lee Young departed this life on Monday, June 26, at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 10 days. 
He was born in Savannah on Sept. 16, 1947, the son of the late William Edward and Blanche Gray Young.
Ronnie was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974. He was a helicopter door gunner. He received numerous air medals, the 2nd through 16th and commendations for flight hours.
He was self-employed as a building contractor and was known for saying, “I loved to work and I was good at it.” He enjoyed going to Tunica, fishing and going to the mountains. He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Ronnie is survived by his children, Stacy Deaton and her husband Johnny of Florence, Alabama, Chris Young and his wife Delinda of Savannah, Marlene Beckham of Lexington and Chelle Payne and her husband Scott of Jackson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jacob, Sydney, Davis, Eric, Blake, Devin, Vance, Cayla, Nicholas, Cody, Josh and Brittney; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Hallie and Sean Cole; sisters, Delois Robinson of Jackson, Tennessee and Gail Alexander of Savannah; brother, Royce Young of Savannah; and the love of his life, Helen Beckham of Savannah.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 28, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Bobby Pickens officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
