Murphy Johnston (6-11-17) service 6-15-17

Edker “Murphy” Johnston, 86, passed away in Savannah, on Sunday, June 11.  
He was united in marriage to  Elizabeth Christine Johnson in 1955 and was married for 60 years until she passed away in May, 2016. 
He is survived by his daughter, Debra Corzine (Barry) of Olive Hill; his son, Doug Johnston (Barbara); one grandson, Ronnie Johnston, Raleigh, North Carolina; brothers, Dennis Johnston (Charlotte); Parvin Johnston; one sister, Penny Gail Thweatt; and many nieces and nephews.  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather Corzine; one brother, Dexter Johnston Jr.; and one sister, Joyce Holland.  
Murphy served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Cascade, during the Korean War. He was a retired union brick mason. He loved to hunt and fish and helping at his church.  He was a godly man who loved God with all his heart and loved people.  He never met a stranger.  
Family and friends gathered at 5 p.m., on Wednesday, June 14, to share memories. 
The funeral service was held 10 a.m., on Thursday, June 15, at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park-East in Memphis with burial at Memphis Memory Hills on Raleigh LaGrange Road.
