Herbie Stricklin (6-14-17) service 6-17-17

Herbie Stricklin, of Savannah, was born in Hardin County on April 24, 1954, the son of the late George Roosevelt and Lina B. Shelby Stricklin.
On April 19, 1975, he was united in marriage to Virginia Sue Wilkerson, who survives.
Herbie worked for 21 years for the Hardin County Highway Department.  He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.  Herbie loved working in his garden, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He departed this life on Wednesday, June 14, in Savannah, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 21 days.
In addition to his wife Virginia of 42 years, he is survived by his children, Kevin D. Stricklin and his wife Vanessa of Savannah and Christy Ruth and her husband Andy of Sardis; four grandchildren, Jazlyn Stricklin, Aidan Stricklin, Aubrey Stricklin and Lily Ruth; one sister, Lillie Pearl Wesson and her husband Donnie of Savannah.
In addition to his parents, Herbie was preceded in death by one son, Billy Wayne Stricklin; one sister, Mattie Ruth Gammill; and three brothers, William Rose Stricklin, James Hardin Stricklin and Thomas Richard Stricklin.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in  Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
