Janice “Jan” Emerson, 66, formerly of Ripley, Tennessee,  died on Thursday, May 25.
Mrs. Emerson began her singing career at a very early age and enjoyed performing and teaching voice as well as being a member of The Blues Foundation.
She leaves behind her husband Scott Gill, currently residing in Memphis; daughter Tammy Gilliland Brown and two grandchildren, all of Savannah; son Skyler Stover of Petaluma, California; and brother Wesley Emerson of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Edna Emerson of Ripley, Tennessee; and her brother, Rodney Emerson of Collierville, Tennessee.
A memorial reception will be held at Immanuel Episcopal Church in Ripley, Tennessee, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Sunday, June 18. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blues Foundation at www.blues.org, which promotes music education.
