Betty Odom Young, of Counce, was born in Steens, Mississippi, on Sept. 18, 1937, the daughter of the late Aubrey Otto and Madge Novis Underwood Odom.
On Dec. 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to Joseph Noel Young, who survives.
While living in Marshall, Michigan, Betty was a real estate broker for Davis Realty. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and spending time with her family. Betty was a member of Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah, Tennessee.
She departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, in Corinth, Mississippi, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Betty is survived by her husband Joe of 62 years and one daughter, Linda Joyce Young Rodgers and her husband Ted of Counce; six grandchildren, Amber Massey and her husband Jamie, Amy Garrett and her husband Jim, Ashley Craig and her husband Patrick, Kyle Rodgers and his wife Elizabeth, Rick Rodgers and his wife Natalie and Kevin Rodgers; nine great-grandchildren, Brent Massey, Blake Massey, Bella Garrett, Reid Garrett, Tenley Garrett, Kesler Rodgers, Ryan Rodgers, Will Rodgers and Josh Rodgers; and one sister, Barbara Odom Shepherd of Catoosa, Oklahoma.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Young; and one brother, Ricky Odom.

Family held a private service and a public memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 30, at 1 p.m., at Savannah Church of Christ with Jim Chamblee officiating.
