Steve Cole (5-6-17) service 5-9-17

Steve Cole was born in Waynesboro on Dec. 10, 1949, the son of the late Mary K. (Kakie) and Claude Cole. He departed this life on Saturday, May 6, at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Steve lived in Savannah his entire life. Since he was unable to attend public school, a homebound teacher was provided for awhile. His knowledge and interest in so many things came from family, friends and being around others listening. He always expressed his thoughts and was full of life. Steve was a people person, particularly to “pretty girls.” He was loving, happy, full of life and always smiling. He loved music, especially gospel music. Steve loved cars and he had a huge collection of miniature classic cars. Every year he looked forward to the Barrett Jackson car sale on TV. Steve enjoyed watching his younger cousins play little league baseball. He eventually fell in love with the Atlanta Braves and never missed watching a game on TV. Steve enjoyed traveling and enjoyed vacationing with family. He looked forward to going to Florida every year. He traveled through Canada and the west…no place was off limits to Steve.
Steve was a member of First Baptist Church and loved attending Sunday school. He always had a love for God. Around the age of 11, he believed and accepted Jesus as his Savior, and that faith was with him and evident in his last few weeks.
Steve is survived by his aunts, Frances Davis of Savannah and Marietta Daniels of Toledo, Ohio; an uncle, Billy Cole of Waynesboro; local cousins, Pam Grigsby of Killen, Alabama, Bob, Blake, Barry and Bruce Winborn of Savannah, Marianna Nichols of Adamsville, Kevin and Robert Davis of Savannah and many out of town cousins; a life long friend, Kathy Petty of Savannah; and his sitters and special friends, Zan Marenchin, who had been with him for four years and Paula Kreft, who introduced him to Jesus Cares, where he believed he worked. As she said, “Although he wasn’t verbal, he spoke volumes.”
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Ethel Cole and Mary D. Christian; aunts, Gladys Winborn, Nell Wilson, and Pauline Cole; and uncles, Billy Frank Davis, Duncan James, and Robert Cole.
Services were held on Tuesday, May 9, at 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Savannah with Michael Roach, Robert Davis and Paula Kreft officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery Hardin County, at Savannah.
