Dougal McFall (4-23-17) service 4-29-17

Dougal Dee McFall passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. McFall was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Wayne County, Tennessee.
He loved God and was a devout Christian. He faithfully attended Johnson Chapel Baptist Church every Sunday, where he loved to hear the Word and the beautiful singing.
He was a kind, gentle man that never met a stranger and never failed to positively impact all those with whom he came in contact. Remarkably, through 94 years, he never lost his sense of humor or his infectious smile.
He spent his life in Wayne County except when he answered the call to serve during World War II. He was a proud member of the Army Air Corps, serving overseas from January 1943 to January 1946. He took great pride in his country and was a true patriot. He was a farmer most of his adult life. At age 65, he started Mid Tenn Turf of Manchester, Tennessee, along with his daughter and later started Volunteer Sod of Lutts, Tennessee with his son. He retired at the age of 80 to take care of his sick wife.
Mr. McFall was an intelligent man who had a thirst for knowledge. He was constantly reading and learning until his eyesight began to fail him. He loved his family unconditionally and took great pride in them. He was married to Mary Walter Austin for 63 years until her death in 2009. He was devoted to her and remained so for the remainder of his life. His children entered various professions and occupations, but all carried with them a love of learning and an eagerness to work hard in all of their endeavors. The values instilled in each of them came not as a result of what their father told them, but by watching their father, who embodied those values.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. McFall and his mother, Ola W. McFall; his wife, Mary Walter McFall; and his son, Robin McFall.
He is survived by seven children, Donny D. McFall and wife Rebecca (deceased), Johnny S. McFall and wife Debbie and Dr. Danny Wayne McFall and wife Regina, all of Florence, Alabama, Patsy Ann McFall Wilkinson and husband Robert, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Marilyn June McFall Howard and husband Allan, Manchester, Tennessee, Dougal Mark McFall and wife Sheila, Lutts, Gary Lynn McFall and wife Lisa, Brentwood, Tennessee and daughter-in-law, Jackie McFall, Columbia, Tennessee.
He is survived by 17 grandchildren, Wayne McFall and wife Ruth, Ashley McFall, Benjamin Bowling and wife Mary, Christopher McFall and wife Heather, Lauren McFall Hollis and husband Denson, Alison McFall, Indy McFall Wilkinson and wife Amanda Leigh, Lance Howard, Brittany McFall and husband Dan Shtob, Cara McFall Thompson and husband Aaron, Amanda, Garrett and Sydney McFall, Bridget McFall Moore and husband Nick; Tiffany McFall, Ragan, Madison and McKenzie McFall; and 14 great-grandchildren, Hunter and Bekah McFall, Bailey, Sam and Emma Bowling, Eloise and Marian Hollis, Grace and Faith Wilkinson, Eli and Alex Shtob, Nico Thompson, Harbor Moore and Parker McFall.
He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29. Burial with military rites was in Lutts Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to www.youcaring.com/NicosHeart.
